Default So Really?!?! Martian Football is back?

Last time I played Martian football was back in '95 - 96' I think. us old guys have bad memories.

Played a runner in a Speck at the time, and a back up tarantula driver when the pickings got slim.

I'm stuck in northern Colorado, so I'm a bit far away but make to dallas on occasion.

if there are any old timers out there are the rules the same? Same VTV's? any new and/or better VTV's for runners, blockers, crushers? Whats the learning curve on Tesla II pods? New Courses?

these things need to be known beforeI make a jaunt down to Dallas to have my slice of humble pie.

Regards,
Hattrick

Hattrick, welcome and glad to see the enthusiasm in the memory of Football fun.

I'd hate to say there's nothing "new" in this version of RP, because there has been a bit of work graphically and in the guts of the game, but the goal of the Dev team was a port, not a new game. This is RP 4.10 ported to the new Tesla II machines. You can ask the many vet pilots around here, its the same Red Planet you know and love.

Hope we can see you soon, but also hoping a site near you picks it up as well once its ready for wide release.

Thanks Gravitas.

I came home tonight and dug through an old document drawer, and found some VGL printouts from some red planet runs. Translocation date of 4/16/2057

One looks like a football practice, 2 tarantulas, a barge and me in a Bug. it looks like I liked to hit the doors, and miss the players.

Thanks for dragging me back a bit. i'll see if I can't make it to dalls near Memorial day, see if I cant get a day or 2 in. playing some old memories.

Hey there Hattrick,

From the looks of it you played in the 3.0 cockpits affectionately known as the "coffins". Did you play in Dallas?

Although they are now old, the Tesla II system is much more advanced than the coffin cockpits. The controls are still the same: joystick, throttle and foot pedals. And going fast and dieing hard is still the name of the game when it comes to RP.

Yeppers an old Dallas Pilot. Lots of dough went to VWE at the time I had it to spare. but I would say I had 125-150 runs in RP and about 20-30 in BT with my Brother who would drag me over to play with him. If I remember Dallas had 3 set of 8 pods in a darkened cavern with the equivalent of aircraft nose art on the sliding doors if I remember correctly. I think had a thing for pod 3, always gave me the blue VTV and it had a cowgirl as the door art, but I could be wrong?

and yes "coffin" is about right for the feel of them. I think I played in Chicago once and in Houston a couple of times when the Masters were on. Couldn't get a cockpit to save my life that weekend. I remember I went for the BT and stayed for the RP.
